    Living in the building for four years offered a range of experiences, primarily colored by the challenges faced during the final year of residency. Initially, the environment seemed manageable and even pleasant; however, as time progressed, significant issues began to surface that ultimately marred the overall experience. During this last year, it became alarmingly clear that the support systems in place—particularly from the social director—were inadequate for those who needed assistance. Despite repeated attempts to seek help in preparing for an important inspection, residents found themselves abandoned without guidance or resources. Frustration grew as many, like myself, tried unsuccessfully to find their own solutions.

    Things took a turn for the worse after I decided to move out. Upon relocating, I was relieved to find immediate support and assistance that had been sorely lacking at my previous residence. Unfortunately, my departure coincided with some unsettling incidents involving other tenants. Reports surfaced about a resident who had threatened violence with firearms and bombs—a situation that cast shadows on the building’s reputation for safety and security. Furthermore, after I vacated my apartment, two additional moves were prompted due to similar threats from other residents. Such alarming events underscore significant concerns regarding tenant screening and community safety within the building.

    One particularly vexing issue was related to financial charges incurred upon leaving. Despite having lived in a unit where no damage occurred—thanks largely to my cat being an emotional support animal—the management charged me $400 for what they termed “a dumpster fee.” Alarmingly, they retained my pet deposit despite no violations to justify such action. This practice raises ethical questions about how management treats residents who have complied with rules while also indicating a broader disregard for emotional support animals—a crucial consideration especially given their increasing importance in residential living arrangements.
