The staff are kind, caring, and responsive to residents and their families. The rehab and activities teams are professional and dedicated, helping residents regain independence and stay engaged. The facility has beautiful grounds, clean spaces, and a welcoming atmosphere. Sherry's coordination and communication with families is excellent. Marie Thompson is a genuine, gentle, and caring unit aide who makes residents feel valued. The recreation program led by Sharon Hines is exceptional and brings joy to residents. The Ellis staff are outstanding, with compassionate care from nurses, aides, therapists, and doctors.
The Unit Manager was unpleasant, with neither compassion nor bedside manner. An administrator in the parking lot shockingly asked the reviewer to leave a Google review the day after their mother died. Ellis Rehab failed my sister; medical assistance did not speak English and had no interest in patient care. The Ellis Rehab Center is poorly managed and many nurses do not speak English, often walking away when patients are in pain or distress. The director of nursing was hostile and unresponsive whenever a problem with the staff was brought to her attention. This facility needs to be reviewed by the Mass Department of Public Health because of the many violations. The Ellis is awful; do not place a loved one in this facility. The head nurse on the unit is an LPN, not a RN, and she is allowed to make all decisions about loved ones.
