A recent review of a healthcare facility is shedding light on the appalling conditions experienced by a WWII veteran and congestive heart failure patient. The reviewer's father, aged 94, was admitted to the facility to regain strength after his health took a hit. However, what followed was nothing short of a nightmare.

The elderly veteran had been incontinent for several years, making him self-conscious and reluctant to venture out in public. Unfortunately, his fears became a reality during his two-week stay at this facility. The reviewer reveals that every time they visited their father, he was found sitting in a puddle of his urine-soaked pants. It was a distressing sight that left the elderly man desperate to leave.

Lamentably, it wasn't as easy as simply walking out the doors. Social workers and doctors had to be involved before any discharge could occur. As if battling congestive heart failure wasn't enough, this elderly patient also had Hodgkins Lymphoma and was too weak for chemotherapy.

The one aspect that compounded their frustration was the lackluster response from the nursing staff and aides. While these healthcare professionals appeared attentive when visitors were present, they seemed to vanish into thin air when no one was watching. Disturbingly, it took an average of 20 minutes for an aide to respond after buzzing for assistance - an unacceptable delay in emergencies or urgent situations.

Further adding insult to injury is the dismal state of the facility itself. The reviewer discovered that the website pictures were outdated and did not accurately represent its current condition - one that can only be described as deplorable. Particularly concerning were the bathrooms in individual rooms, which failed to meet building codes with no space available for wheelchair transfers onto toilets properly.

One can only wonder how such an establishment even managed to obtain a license. It appears that the primary focus of this facility is billing Medicare rather than providing quality care for patients. This observation is supported by the fact that doctors at the facility prescribed medication, including dopamine, to be taken with meals, despite knowing that dopamine should not be consumed within an hour of protein intake.

To make matters worse, the medical staff also administered liquid protein alongside dopamine for four days before the family caught on to their dangerous oversight. Inevitably, this resulted in severe confusion and increased hallucinations for the Parkinson's patient.

Amidst this disheartening review, one redeeming aspect seemed to be the occupational therapy (OT) and physical therapy (PT) departments. Although there were occasional lapses in attentiveness from some therapists who were too engrossed in idle chatter rather than focusing on their patients, overall, these departments appeared competent.
