Pricing

Cole AFH offers competitive pricing for its care options, particularly when compared to both Snohomish County and the broader Washington state averages. For private rooms, Cole AFH's monthly cost of $4,500 is quite attractive, being lower than Snohomish County's average of $4,834 and slightly above the state average of $4,772. In the semi-private category, Cole AFH aligns with its peers at $4,500 while offering a more favorable rate than Snohomish County at $4,320 and Washington state at $4,267. However, when it comes to studio accommodations, Cole AFH's price point of $6,000 exceeds both county ($4,443) and state ($4,126) averages by a significant margin. Overall, while Cole AFH provides an appealing value for most room types relative to local competition, potential residents or their families should consider the unique features and services offered when evaluating the higher studio rates.

Review

Choosing a care facility for a loved one is an arduous task, as one wants to ensure their safety and well-being. In the case of Cole AFH, initial impressions were positive during the tour. The place was impeccably clean and well-maintained, and the staff seemed knowledgeable and experienced in Alzheimer's care. However, problems arose shortly after admission.

The first issue occurred when it was discovered that the loved one sleepwalked during the night. While this is common among Alzheimer's patients, the owner of Cole AFH seemed overly concerned about maintaining an immaculate environment. They expressed their dissatisfaction with this behavior, which raised questions about their ability to handle Alzheimer's residents despite claiming expertise in this area.

During sleepwalking episodes, the loved one inadvertently set off alarms and even entered other residents' rooms thinking they were bathrooms. The owner's response was severe - stating that such incidents "can't happen." Suggestions were made to provide additional support or implement babyproofing methods, but these ideas were dismissed by the owner. Instead, they made the questionable decision to lock the loved one in their room.

This unreasonable approach led to further complications as the loved one began knocking on their door throughout the night, causing distress for both them and other residents. Eventually, without proper notice or communication, Cole AFH abruptly expelled the loved one from their facility at midnight. The owner even demanded compensation for a new lock.

These actions were deemed unacceptable by the reviewer who had trusted Cole AFH with their loved one's care. It was clear that this facility was ill-equipped to handle advanced levels of care or any form of individual attention beyond keeping residents sedentary in chairs throughout the day.

On a more positive note, another reviewer shared an entirely different experience with Cole AFH. Their mother had been living there for over two years and received exceptional care. The staff displayed kindness, compassion, and interacted extensively with patients, creating a family-like atmosphere. The reviewer expressed their desire for everyone to have the opportunity to live in such a nurturing and accommodating environment.

Ultimately, the contrasting reviews shed light on the stark differences in experiences within Cole AFH. While it may be suitable for individuals who require minimal care and are content with a more structured routine, it is apparent that this facility falls short when it comes to providing more advanced care or personalized attention. This emphasizes the importance of thorough research and assessment when selecting a care home for loved ones, ensuring their specific needs are met and their well-being is prioritized.
