    Cons

      Review

Our experience with Concordia began a little over twenty years ago when the time came for our aging parents, who had lived in Florida, to return home to Pennsylvania. They needed to be near relatives and to spend their remaining years surrounded by family. We set out to find the best fit among Western Pennsylvania's senior communities, visiting every major option and carefully weighing what each had to offer. We rejected several well-known facilities for very good reasons, and in the end Concordia stood out. It offered every level of care they would ever need, but more importantly it delivered a rich social life and an active activities calendar that would keep them engaged and connected. Throughout our visits, every staff member we encountered seemed genuinely caring and devoted to a kind, Christian environment.

The fit for our parents grew into a lasting relationship with Concordia, but five years ago the baton passed to us. Choosing Concordia for our own move was an easy decision. We now live on a beautiful 140-acre campus where every service we could need is readily available. What has impressed us most, beyond the breadth of offerings, is the consistent kindness of the staff in every area. Concordia operates with a mission-driven approach - faith and caring are evident in how people are treated and how the community is run. Our children, helping us move in, described the experience as if we were being dropped off at college, only with better food and the sense that we'd be enjoying a kind of lifelong learning, where keeping grades isn't a worry and enrichment classes are for pleasure and enrichment, not performance.

The sense we get from living here is that the whole environment is designed to be supportive and uplifting at every level. The campus provides a wide array of social opportunities and activities that help maintain a lively, engaged lifestyle. The social life is not an afterthought but a core feature, with ample opportunities to meet neighbors, participate in events, and pursue interests. The sense of community extends beyond mere amenities; it feels like a place where staff and residents truly care for one another. In short, Concordia does not just offer care - it fosters a life that remains active, purposeful, and connected, anchored by a faith-inspired ethos that permeates daily interactions.

There are practical conveniences that reinforce the impression of a well-rounded, sustainable senior living environment. All levels of medical care short of hospitalization are available on campus, so medical needs can be addressed promptly and conveniently. For everyday errands and outings, there are organized bus trips to stores, sporting events, plays, and concerts. If specialized care is required off campus, transportation is provided. The campus also hosts a robust array of enrichment opportunities and social events, making it possible to stay engaged without having to leave the community. It is clear that Concordia aims to support a full, active lifestyle while ensuring that medical and daily living needs are met on site.

Turning to Haven III of Concordia in Cabot, a separate perspective within the same overarching community, my experience as a resident for eleven months has been equally compelling. The apartment exceeded my expectations, and the common areas are pristine. The dining room presents a level of quality and service that feels more like a fine restaurant than a retirement community cafeteria. What truly elevates Haven III is the staff. From maintenance and dietary to housekeeping, activities, and transportation, every team member works to create a cohesive, efficient operation. Yet it is the Resident Coordinator who ties everything together, acting as the "concierge of a high-end resort." No request or question seems unresolvable, and the Coordinator's leadership helps the entire staff function as a unified, caring family.

Overall, the experience at Concordia - both in the broader community and specifically at Cabot's Haven III - has been deeply positive and deeply human. The place feels genuine, not transactional, and the care provided is infused with a sense of faith and true concern for residents. With staff who treat you like family and a culture that prioritizes meaningful living alongside accessible care, Concordia stands out as a place where retirement can be vibrant, dignified, and deeply fulfilling. For anyone evaluating senior living options in this region, Concordia at Cabot is a compelling choice, offering comprehensive care, strong community, and a welcoming, faith-centered atmosphere.
