The meals offered are balanced for a healthy diet and cater to dietary restrictions.
There are plenty of activities available to cater to a wide range of interests.
The security measures in place are excellent.
Visitors, including children, are welcomed and encouraged to visit.
The apartments are spacious and well-maintained.
National Church Residences Chillicothe is considered the nicest nursing home in town.
It provides a comfortable setting for residents.
Cons
The staff is friendly and the building is clean. However, where it counts in the care of the patient there is a letdown.
Anything that goes wrong with the patient's condition is the patient's fault.
The nursing director and medical director took no responsibility in the fact that the patient developed 2 separate bed sores (stage 4) and that she lost 30 pounds in under 2 months.
I think the medical care is reactive and not proactive.
It is so sad to see her debilitated so fast when it didn't need to happen if there was responsible care.
The only problem is the staff does not seem to care very much about the patients under their care.
I have seen this problem in almost any nursing home I have been in.
Review
National Church Residences Chillicothe seems to be a popular choice for seniors and their families in the area. While it may be the second choice for one person, they still acknowledge that the facility looks nicer than others. Although it was more expensive, unfortunately, there were no openings at the time of their visit. However, they did mention that the tour was not as impressive as another facility due to the larger size and busier staff.
Despite this, the rooms at National Church Residences Chillicothe were described as nice, and the presence of church groups engaging with residents added a sense of community. The dining area was also praised for its organization and resemblance to a high-class restaurant rather than a nursing home. This is reflective of a more independent living environment where residents maintain their daily routines.
While the staff members were friendly and the building appeared clean, one reviewer expressed concerns about patient care. They felt that any issues or health decline experienced by their loved one were blamed on the patient rather than taking responsibility themselves. This lack of proactive medical care resulted in significant weight loss and bedsores developing.
On a positive note, another individual shared that their great-grandmother received good care overall, although she had some complaints about the food. The cleanliness of the facility and friendliness of the staff were both highlighted as strengths.
Another reviewer praised National Church Residences Chillicothe for its spacious apartments which are well-maintained. The staff's politeness and familiarity with residents further contributed to a positive experience. In addition to excellent physical therapy services, balanced meals tailored to specific dietary restrictions were commended.
However, despite these compliments on appearances and amenities, there seems to be recurring criticism regarding staff attitudes towards patients in nursing homes. The lack of caring observed by multiple reviewers suggests an area where improvement may be needed.
In conclusion, National Church Residences Chillicothe is often regarded as an aesthetically pleasing and comfortable assisted living facility. The spacious rooms, friendly staff, and array of activities are often appreciated by residents and their families. However, concerns about the attentiveness and responsibility of the staff towards patient care have been voiced. Overall, it appears that while there are areas for improvement, many individuals trust their loved ones to receive good care within this facility.
