The loved one wore a hospital gown for an extended period before wearing clothes. The nails of the loved one had to be trimmed three times by family during a holiday. The loved one's fall was not reported to the social worker. The loved one had dried feces behind their jeans and dirty nails on Christmas Eve. Communication from the staff was very poor or lacking.This place left me with a very negative impression at first. The experience was marred by what I perceived as dirt and lax oversight. There were reports of employees without ID cards and a concerning lack of proper permit checks, which added to my unease about safety and accountability. The overall atmosphere felt unsettled, and it was hard to ignore these basic gaps in supervision and procedure.
The time frame matters a lot to me. This review covers the period when my dad was in this group home from April of last year until the last week of March of this year. During that stretch, I watched conditions deteriorate in ways that were hard to overlook. My loved one (LO) was placed in a very small room that seemed designed for one person only, which felt inappropriate given the circumstances. The situation was compounded by frequent deviations from what I would expect in terms basic care and oversight.
There were several specific incidents that stood out as red flags. For a while, LO wore a hospital gown rather than normal clothes, which felt dehumanizing and was not aligned with respectful care. I had to trim LO's nails myself three times when we celebrated holidays at a family home, highlighting a lack of routine, attentive care. There was a fall that wasn't reported to the social worker, which is a serious lapse in monitoring and communication.
