Review

Longview, located in a residential area atop a hill, offers stunning views of the Missouri River Valley. The facility impresses with its clean and neat decor, along with a dedicated staff in all areas. Recently, my sister and I had the opportunity to visit our uncle, who was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's disease. He had only been at Longview for a few weeks, previously being cared for at home by our aunt and his children who visited regularly.

Upon arrival, we noticed that our uncle's initial room had a lovely view. However, it became apparent that he required constant attention as his condition deteriorated. The compassionate staff promptly moved him to a double room near the nurse's station and common room. This new location provided both easy access to medical care and an inviting space with chairs, tables, a TV, and even a bird feeder outside.

During our visit, we were surprised to find our uncle still asleep—an unusual occurrence for him. It turned out that his condition was shifting once again. The attentive staff called in a nurse who kindly invited us to join her as she examined him. What struck me most about this interaction was how gentle she was with him—explaining each step of the examination process before approaching him with any equipment. Recognizing his struggle for breath, she quickly adjusted his oxygen supply.

After leaving momentarily to inform us that our immediate family had been contacted due to his transition into the final stage of life, the nurse returned to share this news with us personally. We sat beside him and at the foot of his bed speaking softly and singing soothingly as we awaited the arrival of our aunt—a moment we were incredibly grateful to be present for during such an important time.

In the days that followed, our uncle remained peaceful while surrounded by loved ones every minute. The staff demonstrated great sensitivity throughout this period and ensured that positive steps were taken to bring family members together during this emotionally challenging time. Despite the circumstances, our uncle was able to receive an abundance of love and care.

Overall, our experience at Longview was characterized by the facility's picturesque location, clean and tidy environment, and the presence of numerous attentive staff members. While our uncle's needs shifted, the facility adeptly accommodated him by providing a room closer to medical support and creating a comfortable common area for him. The compassionate actions of the nurse during his examination showcased the staff's dedication and care towards each individual resident.

During his final days, our family found solace in being able to be by his side continuously. We are incredibly appreciative of the sensitivity displayed by Longview's staff during this difficult period, as they facilitated an environment that allowed us to share precious moments with our beloved uncle in his last moments.
