If I could, I'd give zero stars. That sentiment frames the experience my family had with this agency, which was supposed to support my daughter through regional center services. At first glance, the intake process brought some hope. The coordinator, Jessica, seemed caring and professional, and I trusted that she would be a steady point of contact as we navigated getting my child the care she needed.
However, the tone changed in a way that shocked me. There was one instance when Jessica contacted my nurse and it was anything but professional. She spoke to the nurse in a rude and screaming manner, as if the nurse's work and presence in our home were a nuisance rather than a valued service. This was not how I expected someone in a care-coordination role to behave, especially toward someone who was doing important, life-sustaining work for my daughter.
My nurse, Marjory, was a truly beloved member of our care team. She brought extraordinary dedication and skill to every shift, and my daughter benefited greatly from the care she provided. It's painful to reflect on how that positive, loving relationship was undermined by an unprofessional interaction with the coordinator. The pressure and disrespect shown toward a caregiver who was doing excellent work ultimately led to Marjory quitting her job. She gave a two-week notice, which is a standard professional courtesy, but the way this situation unfolded showed a striking mismatch between the high regard I had for Marjory and the way the agency handled the partnership with its staff.
What followed was a profound breakdown in communication. Jessica did not contact me to inform me that my nurse would no longer be working with us, nor did she communicate that a replacement nurse would be assigned. The lack of outreach left us in the dark, waiting for updates that never came. It was only after I reached out to our regional center coordinator to report the issue that there was any acknowledgment from the agency. That absence of proactive communication made a difficult situation even more stressful and unsettling for a family that relies on consistent care for a child with special needs.
The regional center's involvement underscored how critical timely information and reliable staffing are in our situation. Until the regional center stepped in, there was no contact from Jessica or from the agency about next steps, which added to our anxiety. The idea that a child's care could hinge on a single coordinator's behavior and responsiveness was alarming, particularly in a context where families depend on routine and predictability.
Only after the regional center intervened did Jessica reappear, sending me a message about a new nurse who would come to our home. This finally provided a path forward, but it came after almost an entire week of waiting with no nurse and no clear communication. That delay felt unacceptable and underscored the broader issue: when an agency drops the ball on communication, the child bears the consequences, and families are left to fill the gaps as best they can.
I'm left with a strong, enduring wish to avoid further contact with this agency. I've never witnessed someone be so rude toward employees, especially when those employees were delivering excellent care for a child who depends on them. The experience has been a harsh reminder of how essential respectful, proactive, and professional conduct is in all levels of a care organization. The contrast between the care Marjory provided and the way the agency handled the coordination and communication is what stands out most in my memory, and it has left me questioning the reliability and compassion of the agency as a whole.
