Review

In a recent visit to a senior living facility, I had the opportunity to take an unofficial tour. As soon as I walked in, the staff warmly greeted me and immediately offered to show me around. This gesture was greatly appreciated and set a positive tone for my experience.

Upon further exploration, it became apparent that this facility was on the smaller side. The residents I encountered were generally older and required a higher level of care than my loved one did. While the staff seemed attentive and dedicated to meeting the needs of their residents, it didn't feel like the right environment for my loved one.

Unfortunately, my overall impression of Village Green was not a positive one. During my time there, I witnessed several altercations between patients and staff members. There were instances of shoving and pushing which greatly concerned me. Additionally, there was one particular resident who had a habit of kissing anyone who came near her. This behavior made me uncomfortable and led me to question the level of control maintained within the facility.

One aspect that left a bitter taste in my mouth was Village Green's steep entrance fee. It seemed excessive considering the issues I observed during my visit. Furthermore, they charged an extra month's fee while my husband was hospitalized, which seemed unfair and left me feeling taken advantage of.

Despite these concerns, it must be acknowledged that the daily care helpers at Village Green seemed competent and caring in their interactions with residents. They appeared dedicated to providing quality care and support to those under their watchful eye. However, it is evident that there may be room for improvement when it comes to the manager's understanding and experience with Alzheimer's disease specifically.

In conclusion, while some positive aspects were noted during my unofficial tour of Village Green senior living facility such as friendly staff and dedicated daily caregivers, there were also several concerning observations. The facility appeared better suited for older individuals with higher care needs than for my loved one. Instances of fights between patients and staff, as well as one resident displaying inappropriate behavior, raised questions about the level of control within the facility. The steep entrance fee and additional charges during hospitalization also posed concerns. Ultimately, it is clear that Village Green may benefit from addressing these issues in order to provide a more ideal living environment for residents and their families.
