    Review

When visiting the assisted living facility, my initial impression was that the exterior appearance was not very well maintained. However, upon entering the home, I was pleasantly surprised by its cleanliness. There were no unpleasant odors lingering in the air, which immediately put me at ease.

Inside the facility, I noticed that the residents seemed content and engaged with one another. It was heartwarming to witness their interactions and see smiles on their faces. This gave me a sense of reassurance that this could potentially be a good fit for my mother-in-law.

One aspect that I found slightly off-putting was the sight of staff members standing around in the kitchen area. It appeared as though they were not actively tending to any tasks or attending to the residents' needs. This observation raised concerns about their level of attentiveness and dedication to their responsibilities.

A potential drawback that presented itself during my visit was the language barrier with some of the staff members. They did not seem proficient in English, which could pose challenges in effectively communicating with them regarding any concerns or specific care instructions. However, it dawned on me that this language barrier might actually be advantageous for my mother-in-law if she happened to speak a different language.

During my tour of the facility, I had the opportunity to meet with the owner who kindly showed me two different locations. While I appreciated their effort and time, I couldn't shake off the feeling that neither option truly resonated with me as an ideal place for my husband's mother.

Although cleanliness and resident happiness are crucial factors when choosing an assisted living facility, other elements such as staff engagement and effective communication cannot be overlooked. The presence of staff members standing around without apparent purpose left room for doubt about their attentiveness towards resident needs.

Furthermore, while it may have been advantageous for those who spoke languages other than English to have staff members who shared their language, it left those who primarily communicate in English at a disadvantage. Effective communication is vital in ensuring that residents' needs are met adequately and promptly.

Ultimately, despite the clean environment and seemingly content residents, I left the facility without a sense of certainty or conviction that it was the right place to entrust my beloved mother-in-law's care. The second location I visited had some positive attributes, but overall, neither option fully convinced me that it would provide the level of care and support she deserved. The search for the ideal assisted living facility would continue with hopes of finding a better match for my husband's mother.
