The apartment options presented to me were particularly disheartening. The assistant showed us a unit that felt cramped and inadequate for the exorbitant price being charged—$3,000 per month. When I learned that he and his nurse would ultimately decide whether or not we could reside there, it added another layer of unease; it felt like our fate rested on arbitrary judgments rather than actual consideration for our needs.

As if adding insult to injury during our visit, he mentioned we had arrived at an inconvenient time—too late for lunch yet too early for dinner—yet failed to offer us any refreshments despite being present at his facility during our tour. These small gestures matter significantly when showcasing hospitality or potential residency in a care environment; however, none appeared forthcoming from him or his staff.
