Pricing

Lexington Commons offers competitive pricing for its residential units, particularly when compared to both Newport News city and the broader Virginia market. The cost of a one-bedroom apartment at Lexington Commons is $620 per month, which significantly undercuts the average rent in Newport News city at $3,080 and the state average of $4,257. Similarly, for two-bedroom apartments, residents at Lexington Commons can enjoy a rate of $725 per month, again presenting a stark contrast to Newport News city's average of $2,925 and Virginia's overall average of $4,602. Living at Lexington Commons: A Disheartening Experience

For the past two years, I have resided in Lexington Commons, a community in Newport News, Virginia that initially held promise but has since become a source of dissatisfaction for myself and many other residents. While I must commend the Maintenance Manager for their exceptional service, it is impossible to overlook the overwhelming discontent that stems from the handling of community affairs by the Community/Property Manager. The complaints regarding their work ethic—or lack thereof—are profound and pervasive. Many residents have voiced concerns about not just incompetence, but also what they perceive as hostility towards those who live here. This troubling environment has led to lowered morale among tenants, confusion regarding policies and procedures, and an alarming number of unresolved resident inquiries.

The security situation within the buildings is equally concerning. Residents feel that security measures are wholly ineffective, leading to unfortunate incidents where thefts of both communal property and amenities occur with alarming regularity. It raises significant questions about how management prioritizes resident safety and property protection. In an apartment complex where countless families reside, ensuring a secure living environment should be paramount; however, this does not appear to be reflected in practice.

Upon moving in, my first impression was far from positive—a stark contrast to what one might expect when seeking a new home. There was an unwelcoming odor permeating throughout certain areas of the buildings during my initial tour with the manager; upon further inspection, it became evident why this was the case. The condition of the carpets was shocking—they were not just dirty; they were filthy and heavily stained. In addition to this neglect regarding cleanliness, it was glaringly obvious that hallway walls and doors had been in dire need of painting for far too long—years had passed without any noticeable effort made to address these aesthetic shortcomings.

It brings forth a critical question: How can property managers allow such deplorable conditions to escalate unchecked? One has to wonder if actual property owners ever visit their own properties or if they remain oblivious to these deteriorating conditions faced by paying residents each day. Those who choose to call Lexington Commons home deserve better than having their hard-earned rent funneled into inadequate upkeep while living under less-than-ideal circumstances.

It is particularly troubling when considering vulnerable populations like senior citizens who inhabit our community—often on fixed incomes—and are subjected to these subpar living conditions which seem all too common at Lexington Commons. Many long-term tenants feel they are being taken advantage of due to management's apparent negligence toward maintaining quality housing environments.

While it's true that appearances can often be deceiving—especially when one looks at the well-kept exterior—the reality inside speaks volumes about ongoing neglect. The common areas lack proper housekeeping standards; hallways frequently go unvacuumed for extended periods, which contributes both to unsightly appearances and lingering odors within shared spaces. It's both embarrassing and disheartening for residents when inviting guests over only to face judgment about our living conditions due purely to large stains marring hallway carpeting or otherwise neglected shared spaces.

In conclusion, while there are bright spots within this community thanks largely in part due diligent maintenance staff members doing what they can under strained circumstances—the overarching issues created by poor management practices have cast a shadow over daily life here at Lexington Commons. Residents deserve transparency from both management teams as well as property owners who must take accountability for their investment—instead of overlooking problems that ultimately undermine tenant satisfaction and wellbeing across our vibrant community.
