    Review

When it comes to finding the right care facility for a loved one, the initial process can sometimes be a bit frustrating. One reviewer shared that they experienced delays in getting their family member into Oyster Bay Manor due to several tests and medical assessment forms. However, despite this initial hurdle, the staff and caregivers at the facility were described as friendly and helpful. Although some assistance was needed for activities, particularly when it came to pushing a wheelchair, the reviewer's mother still enjoyed participating, especially in exercise programs.

One recurring concern among reviewers was the quality of the food provided at these care facilities. Some mentioned that meals could be served cold, which led their loved ones to opt for soup instead. Additionally, there were mentions of certain aides not displaying kindness towards residents or failing to change their clothes regularly enough.

On a positive note, Oyster Bay Manor stood out for its warm and welcoming atmosphere. The facility felt more like a home than an institution, and the smaller size was appreciated by many. The menu featured low-salt options suitable for diabetics, and outings and activities were organized both within the town and on-site. The staff's willingness to communicate with residents' families was highly praised by one reviewer.

Harbor House also received compliments for taking good care of residents and maintaining open lines of communication with families. Staff members were attentive to daily living needs and went above and beyond by ensuring that residents ate their meals. A hair salon on-site added an extra touch of convenience.

However, not all reviews were entirely positive. One reviewer expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of available activities and stimulation for residents, while another believed they had been deceived about what the community offered.

Amidst all these experiences shared by various individuals and their families, Harbor House has managed to leave a positive impression on some customers. Families appreciated the personal care provided by dedicated staff members who understood the challenges of memory care specifically. While communication during COVID-19 posed some difficulties, overall, the staff were receptive to inquiries and concerns. However, there was a desire for more proactive communication from the facility to update families on their loved ones' wellbeing.

Unfortunately, there was one particularly negative review that highlighted the lack of information provided by Harbor House following the passing of a resident. The reviewer expressed disappointment with the callousness and insensitivity they experienced during such a difficult time. While acknowledging that this may be a common issue across memory care facilities in general, they could not recommend Harbor House.

In conclusion, choosing the right care facility is an important decision that requires careful consideration. Oyster Bay Manor and Harbor House have both garnered positive feedback for their friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere, and efforts to provide personalized care. However, concerns regarding food quality, staff behavior, and communication still exist. Families should thoroughly research and visit potential facilities to ensure they find an environment that best suits their loved one's needs.
