Review

During my visit to the facility on April 18, 2014, I had the opportunity to meet with Ms. Joseph, the owner of the establishment. As a registered nurse, she has been running this facility for the past six years. Ms. Joseph relies on her medical colleagues, including MDs and RNs, to provide additional services to the residents.

As I entered the home, which is a rambler-style house, I couldn't help but notice that it appeared somewhat dark and cramped. With licensure for seven residents, there are five bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs. While this may not seem like a spacious arrangement, it does allow for a more intimate living environment.

One aspect that concerned me during my visit was the lack of activities offered at the facility. Although an activity person/physical therapist comes in one to two days a week, most of the residents seemed to just sit around without much engagement. However, Ms. Joseph does take them out once a week for a meal or a visit to a local mall.

Considering the services provided and facilities offered at this facility, the price range of $5,000 per month seems reasonable. It should be noted that this price includes various amenities such as meals and assistance with daily activities.

While visiting the facility, I also noticed an issue with accessibility. The chair lift used to assist residents in moving between the first floor and basement creates a narrow space that may pose challenges for individuals with depth perception or ambulatory issues.

On a positive note, it is worth mentioning that this facility accepts assignment of benefits from long-term care insurance policies. This can be an important factor for families who are relying on insurance coverage to help finance their loved one's stay at this assisted living facility.

In conclusion, during my visit to this assisted living facility led by Ms. Joseph - an experienced registered nurse - I found some aspects worthy of consideration before choosing this place as your loved one's residence. While the home may appear somewhat dark and cramped, it does provide an intimate living environment for up to seven residents. However, the lack of engaging activities for the residents is a concern. The price range of $5,000 per month is reasonable considering the services offered, but potential accessibility issues with the chair lift should be taken into account. Finally, the acceptance of long-term care insurance benefits can be beneficial for families seeking financial assistance for their loved ones' stay at this facility.
