She was very happy during her stay at St. Joseph Residence. She felt at home in her private 1-bedroom apartment with a small kitchen and balcony, which she loved to relax on. She appreciated the convenient in-unit amenities, including coffee, a microwave, and a toaster. She was happy to have a small chapel on the main floor where she attended Mass and rosary. She found the staff very helpful and pleasant, and she connected with many other residents. The facility was well maintained, always clean inside and outside, with no odors. The facility offered a good price, and she felt watched over and safe. Elaine and Michaelle were very helpful over time. The nursing staff, aides, front desk, and maintenance were very nice and always ready to lend a hand. The kitchen was very nice.
A staffer was extremely rude, forceful, and callous toward a resident and toward the reviewer, which was deemed unacceptable. The staffer was extremely offensive and unprofessional, unapologetic, shouting and screaming names and making a scene, a totally unacceptable treatment of the resident and visitor. The mother's belongings were never unpacked and she was head to toe in urine, with no one assisting, forcing the family to leave that day. The director was described as intimidating, a control freak, very petty, and vindictive, wanting to take the resident's voice and rights away, and refused to refund the first, last, and deposit.
