The staff are consistently compassionate and helpful with families as well as residents, and they work smoothly with hospice teams to coordinate care. One of the biggest advantages is that the main caregivers live on site, which creates a level of consistency that makes a real difference for residents with dementia. The owners are committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure residents are well cared for, and the communication among owners, managers, caregivers, and families is excellent. It's clear that everyone is aligned in putting the residents' well-being first, and that level of openness makes a stressful situation much more manageable for loved ones.
Alongside the overall care, there are personal touches that stand out. My husband Barry is currently at this wonderful facility, and there's a staff member who deserves a shout-out: Will. From the day we checked in, and every time I visit, Will is there to chat, offer a listening ear, and simply spend time sharing. He's not just competent - he's an amazing gentleman who adds warmth and humanity to the everyday routine. That level of attentiveness matters deeply when you're navigating the many decisions that come with caregiving, and Will consistently delivers that extra bit of kindness.
There's also a strong emphasis on professional development and accountability in the care network. I pursued my QMAP certification with Liz Littleton, and the experience was marked by pride in making sure we're 100% capable of understanding our duties and responsibilities as QMAPs, and how important those roles are in safeguarding our residents' well-being. Liz's approach conveyed that the job isn't merely about meeting minimum standards; it's about fully grasping what it takes to keep residents safe and comfortable. That mindset - careful preparation paired with genuine concern - felt meaningful and motivating.
Another note about the QMAP training experience: I took the QMAP test here as well, and it was both fun and informative. The teacher provided exceptional assistance with anything you needed to learn in order to pass the test, which reinforced how seriously the staff take the education that underpins high-quality care. The combination of practical instruction and supportive guidance helped create an encouraging, constructive learning environment that left me feeling confident about the material and the responsibilities it entails.
When I look at Lighthouse Assisted Living as a whole, I'm impressed by how well the facility is organized and run. It truly feels like a little house that operates with impressive professionalism. There are distinct roles - house managers, an activities director, a chef, and, of course, caregivers - who together form a cohesive team. Communication with managers is excellent, and they seem to be available around the clock, which provides real reassurance for families. Of course, as with any setting where someone is caring for a loved one, there are moments that may not meet every personal standard, but what stands out is that the team remains open to discussion and is quick to address concerns as soon as they're brought to their attention.
However, there is a less favorable experience connected to the QMAP program run out of the same facility. My review here centers on Liz Littleton, RN, and my frustration with what I found to be unprofessional responses. I registered for the March 6-7 classes months in advance, but the instructor canceled the class at the last minute via email, stating refunds would be issued to those who could not attend the rescheduled session. My friend and I could not attend the following week and requested refunds through Eventbrite, where the tickets were purchased. When I reached out to Liz for an update on those refunds, her response was not only curt but unprofessional. She refused to refund two tickets, offered what I perceived as false information about her supervisor, and, after I mentioned that calls had been redirected to a personal number, she refused to provide a supervisor's email. It felt like a nightmare dealing with that situation, and I found myself exhausting every possible option without resolution. Given that experience, I would strongly recommend taking QMAP classes elsewhere.

The front-facing teams, especially Will and the on-site caregivers, exemplify the level of care and attention families hope to find.
