Review

My husband recently died after living with Parkinson's disease, and the last five years of his life were spent in a board-and-care home that became a true haven for him. Those years were deeply meaningful, and the place where he lived became the quiet backbone of his daily life, offering consistency, safety, and comfort when we needed it most.

That home, originally known as L'Chaim House, is now under new management and operates as Gentle Home Care, located at 463 Nova Albion Way. The change in management did not diminish what made the residence special; instead, it carried forward a sense of reliability and care that proved to be invaluable during a challenging time. It was, in every sense, a remarkable find for our family.

What stood out most was the level of care he received. Because he had frequent falls, the staff watched him like a hawk to keep him safe. That vigilance didn't feel intrusive; it felt like genuine protection and concern. Their careful attention meant that we could breathe a little easier, knowing he was being looked after closely and thoughtfully at all hours.

The everyday details also mattered greatly: the food was consistently good, something that made me feel at ease about his nutrition and enjoyment. The home itself was kept spotless, a tribute to the staff's pride in their work. His bedding and clothes were always clean, which may seem small, but it reflected the overall standard of care and the extent to which the household functioned smoothly and respectfully for him.

I can't say this strongly enough: I can't recommend this board-and-care enough. The experience was transformative in the right way - steady, compassionate, and reliable. For families navigating the difficult decision of placing a loved one in such care, this place provided a level of support and dignity that felt like nothing short of exceptional.

Ultimately, this home offered the best care possible during a time when safety and well-being are paramount. It was the best by far among all the board-and-care options we considered once we realized we could no longer keep him safe at home. The care, the environment, and the staff's dedication combined to give us peace of mind when we needed it most, and for that we remain profoundly grateful.
