Review

I currently live here with my wife, and for the most part we haven't had serious issues. The one notable exception was the bedroom's air conditioning and heating unit, which was old and not working well. Fortunately, management replaced it, and that problem is now behind us. That small improvement stood out because it contrasted with the larger, ongoing concerns that color our day-to-day living here.

Beyond the repair of that one appliance, the atmosphere in the building has deteriorated in ways that are hard to ignore. It feels like the place has been taken over by people described by some residents as bums, drug users, and sex workers. The problem isn't just sporadic; it's part of what many people here experience daily. According to long-time tenants, management doesn't seem to care enough to intervene, leaving a sense of neglect that permeates common areas and hallways alike.

Lineweaver Apartments is promoted as a subsidized housing option for people with disabilities or elderly residents, and I have lived here for sixteen years. Like any other place, it has its pros and cons. The subsidized nature of the housing provides a much-needed option for seniors and people with disabilities, but the trade-off is that the building often feels under-supported and under-resourced. The reality many of us live with is a mix of benefits and persistent, and sometimes dangerous, drawbacks.

One resident makes no bones about how bad it feels to be living here: if there were a way to give the place negative stars, they'd use it. They describe the building as disgusting and paint a picture of a facility that is frequently neglected by the people who are supposed to keep it running. They emphasize that management is hardly present, and when they are, they don't provide meaningful help. The structure itself is described as being in complete disrepair, and the people who live here are depicted as troublesome in various ways. The concerns about drug dealing and what is described as a "boatload" of sexual harassment are presented as ongoing issues that touch every corner of the building.

Smoking is cited as a pervasive problem as well, with residents reporting smoking in nearly every corner of the building. The person who is often responsible for addressing tenant behavior - the property manager - comes in for sharp criticism. They describe the manager as rude and disrespectful, noting that she will still eject tenants for smoking but refuses to take action against sexual harassment or drug dealing. That perceived inconsistency - disciplining minor offenses while ignoring major safety and rights violations - fuels a sense of injustice and fear among residents.

All of this creates a stark sense of confinement for those who live here. One resident's refrain - "We are prisoners in this building and no one will help us" - captures the feeling that the system is not designed to protect vulnerable tenants. It's hard not to feel stuck in a place where alarms some days feel louder than the solutions, and where issues of safety, privacy, and dignity seem to fall through the cracks.

Amid the stark complaints, there are glimmers that not everything is entirely bleak. Some days, it's described as a good place, and there are moments of normalcy and routine that give residents a sense of stability. A few lines even suggest that there can be "fun" in the right moments or with the right group of neighbors. Those brighter notes hint at a more complex reality, where life here can still offer ordinary pleasures and a sense of community, even as serious concerns persist.

In short, the experience living at Lineweaver Apartments is a blend of utility and hardship. The subsidized housing arrangement provides essential access for disabled and elderly residents, yet it sits within a building that many residents feel is neglected and inadequately policed. Drug dealing, sexual harassment, and heavy smoking punctuate daily life, while the management's responsiveness is seen as inconsistent at best. The result is a community that can feel both tolerable and intolerable, offering occasional positives amid a persistent sense of danger and neglect.
