The place was a nightmare. After moving her to a facility in Eau Claire, she had a huge bruise covering her entire cheek. They do not recommend placing their loved ones there.Putting my mom in this facility turned out to be a grave misstep. From the moment she arrived, it felt like the staff missed the most basic responsibility of care: keeping her safe and supervised. The concerns that weighed on my family early on never seemed to get the attention they deserved. We trusted that she would be looked after, but the reality quickly showed us that safety and attentive oversight were far from guaranteed.
One of the most troubling parts of our experience was how often my mom wandered out of the facility. She would leave or attempt to leave multiple times, and it became clear that the staff were not adequately watching her or preventing these exits. My mom used a walker, but even with that aid, she managed to get away from the premises more than once. Each incident heightened our fear and underscored the gap between what we expected and what actually happened in terms of safety and supervision.
Then there was the troubling pattern of how her progress and adaptation were described to us. There was a habit of embellishing how she was "adapting" or doing better, while real concerns persisted. The disconnect between the words from staff and the reality at her bedside left us doubting what information was trustworthy and what wasn't.
This place was a nightmare, plain and simple. The combination of lax monitoring, repeated wandering, and the sense that the care team wasn't fully honest about her condition created a climate of anxiety and disappointment. It was not just about a single mistake or one bad day; it was a persistent pattern that eroded our confidence in the facility's ability to keep her safe and comfortable.
Eventually, we made the difficult decision to move her to a facility in Eau Claire. The move came after repeated incidents that left us feeling we had to take action to protect her.
