Review
Homestead of La Vista was recommended to one individual by a friend, and they are extremely grateful for the recommendation. With only 40 residents living there at the time their mother was moved in, it had a warm and intimate atmosphere that felt like a home away from home. The staff at Homestead was caring, compassionate, and welcoming, which made them feel at ease regarding their mother's well-being and care. The activities provided for the residents were interactive, fun, and socially rewarding, including bingo, music performances, dancing, arts and crafts, outdoor activities, singing, exercise programs, and WII Bowling. Every holiday was acknowledged and celebrated with residents being invited to decorate their front doors.
On the other hand, some individuals felt that Homestead of La Vista had more of a nursing home-like feel and did not fit their loved one's needs for assisted living. They found the community to be dark and depressing rather than the warm environment they were looking for.
Granville Villa is another assisted living facility that received positive reviews. One family member mentioned how nice it was that it is just a one-level facility without stairs or elevators. Its proximity to where they live allowed them to easily visit their father whenever they wanted. The staff at Granville Villa was highly praised for their care and attention to the residents' needs. They also offer various activities such as movies and transportation to doctor's appointments.
While Granville Villa seemed like a good fit for some individuals due to its smaller size and Catholic services on Sundays, others felt that it might not be suitable for their loved ones. One person mentioned concerns about the open front door, which could pose risks for those with memory issues. Additionally, there were comments about high turnover rates of employees under new management.
Despite these mixed reviews, Granville Villa has been chosen by some as the best place for their parent due its family-oriented atmosphere and attentive staff who make an effort to know the residents on a personal level. The facility offers a range of activities and amenities, including a themed event each week and services like hair and nail care.
In conclusion, Homestead of La Vista and Granville Villa are both assisted living facilities that offer care and support to their residents. While Homestead has been praised for its warm and intimate atmosphere, as well as engaging activities, Granville Villa has received positive feedback for its family-oriented environment and convenient location. However, there were some concerns raised about the nursing home-like feel at Homestead and turnover rates at Granville Villa. It is important for families to thoroughly research and tour different facilities to find the best fit for their loved ones' needs.
