Review

Last August I placed my sister, who has early onset Alzheimer's, into this care home. The transition was incredibly hard for both of us, and I carried a lot of worry as I handed her over to people I hoped would look after her with the same care I'd expect at home. In the early days, she was very difficult, displaying aggressive behavior that tested everyone involved. Yet from the very start, the staff showed remarkable patience and compassion. They didn't give up on her or push her aside; they met her where she was, offered gentleness, and found ways to keep her safe while still honoring her dignity. Over time, the way they interacted with her softened her intensity, and it was clear that they cared deeply about her well-being.

I've come to trust that she is in a good place because the people there consistently treat her with kindness and respect. The home itself feels like a calm, well-run environment where she can settle into routines and feel secure. The staff's warmth has a real, measurable impact on her mood and behavior, and I've seen small but meaningful improvements in how she responds to daily care because of the steady, loving approach. It's also comforting to know the residence is well maintained - clean, orderly, and with a level of security that keeps residents safe without making the place feel cold or institutional. These factors have given me peace of mind during a very stressful time.

I am profoundly grateful to have found this facility for my sister. Their care has made a real difference in her life, and I've watched the staff go above and beyond to support both her and our family. The positive changes I've witnessed - more calm days, more recognizable smiles, and a sense of continuity in her daily routine - make me feel hopeful about her ongoing care. It's clear that the staff take pride in their work, and that pride translates into attentiveness and a genuine willingness to help when she needs it. In a situation that can feel uncertain and fragile, their steadiness has been a blessing.

At the same time, I'm facing a very different reality for myself right now. I'm hospitalized, and the help I need from outside is not coming through as it should. The summons and requests for assistance seem not to be functioning, which leaves me feeling stranded and frustrated during a vulnerable period. I've asked to see a dentist - something that feels urgent given my situation - and I've even noted that I have dental insurance, hoping it would simplify access. I've also asked for a haircut, something small that would help me feel more like myself, but nothing has been arranged. It's painful to be in a hospital setting and still feel overlooked in basic ways.

There are also more troubling personal care gaps to mention. I haven't been bathed during this stay, and the situation has left me feeling uncomfortable and humiliated. My underwear are dirty enough to stick to my skin, which is not only unpleasant but deeply distressing to experience when you're already dealing with illness and fatigue. These details are hard to share, but they reflect real needs that aren't being addressed in the moment. It's jarring to witness such a contrast: the excellent, compassionate care my sister receives versus the neglect of basic self-care needs for me, someone who is also in a vulnerable place and depending on others for support.

Taken together, the experience reveals a stark division between the care my sister is receiving and the care I am not receiving during a time when I'm supposed to be able to rely on support from the system. The staff's constant kindness and the environment they've created for my sister stand in sharp relief against the gaps in attention to my own immediate needs. I remain grateful for the positive differences I've observed in her care, and I hope the same level of concern and responsiveness will extend to the rest of us who depend on the system in moments of weakness.

Ultimately, my hope is that the strengths of this care home - compassion, cleanliness, security, and reliable staff - will be matched by timely help and attention for others when they are in hospital or dealing with urgent health concerns. The contrast I'm feeling now is painful, but it also underscores how important it is for facilities to treat all residents and their families with the same diligence and respect. If improvements can be made so that my basic needs, and the needs of others in similar situations, are met promptly, I believe this place could be even more supportive and reassuring for families navigating challenging times.
