From the moment we engaged with the staff, we felt a level of responsiveness and warmth that has carried through every interaction. Monica, the unit director, has set a tone of clear communication and reliability that has made our decision-making much easier. Her leadership, along with a capable team, has given our family confidence that our loved one is in good hands.

We even had the pleasure of taking Mom to their on-site restaurant for Mother's Day, an experience so positive that we plan to return for Thanksgiving.

On the memory care front, the second floor is secure and designed with respect for privacy while maintaining a high level of attentiveness. My Mom has memory challenges that keep her anchored in the present, but the staff consistently creates moments that are uplifting and meaningful. In the year I have spent time at The Lodge, I've interacted with dozens of staff members across departments, and their care has been outstanding - nearly uniformly so, with only one exception that staff addressed and weeded out quickly.

The story of our Dad adds a deeply human dimension to our gratitude. A naval officer and university president, he was initially reluctant to leave his home. After touring The Lodge and speaking with their team, he felt more at ease, and he lived there comfortably with no regrets. At 95, he passed peacefully, and the staff supported us every step of the way. I can't forget the image of a staff aide kneeling at his bedside, in tears at his passing - an intimate testament to the level of care and compassion that marks this community. My Mom, also 95, has progressed to memory care, and while her short-term memory keeps her very much in the present, the staff's loving attention and care have been a constant source of comfort. The Lodge's memory care unit on the second floor is both secure and warm, and the positive energy of the environment has mattered immensely to our family during this difficult time.

The general manager, Mark, has also been a pleasure to work with; the whole leadership and staff culture reflects a level of professionalism and genuine care that is hard to find. The Lodge is a community built from the ground up, with owners and managers who deeply understand the industry and want to be here, and it shows in every engagement.

This is a remarkable community - brand-new and beautifully designed, with a staff that goes above and beyond day after day. Family members who visit are often impressed by how the residents take pride in showing off their new home, and our in-laws have expressed real happiness with their surroundings. The food has been outstanding, and the activities are engaging and varied enough to keep spirits high. If you are seeking a place that feels like a true home for a loved one facing memory challenges, The Lodge at Piner Road deserves serious consideration. The one logistics note I would share is that sometimes entrances can become crowded or blocked, something to be mindful of when planning visits.
