    Review

In April 2023, I found myself navigating one of the hardest moments a caregiver can face. My mom was in the final stages of Alzheimer's, bedbound for the last two and a half years, and though she had already spent four years in a memory care facility in Lincoln, Dad had died the previous October, and Mom needed even more personalized attention. The search for a place that could truly meet her evolving needs was urgent, delicate, and deeply personal.

Eastern Manor was the first place I toured among four facilities. Right from the start, it felt different in a way I could sense but not yet name. It wasn't just the look of the building or the amenities; it was the impression of care and attentiveness that seemed woven into the staff's daily routines. That initial visit left me with a strong sense that, among the options, EM might be the right fit to support Mom in her later days.

What stood out most were the people who would actually be with Mom every day. Maria and Emma emerged as guiding presences - described by others as angels - who, along with their dedicated team, provided a level of care that felt both professional and profoundly compassionate. During every visit, Mom looked well, the environment appeared clean, and the other residents seemed to be receiving attentive, thoughtful care as well. It was clear that the care team took pride in their work and in preserving dignity for each resident. My thanks to Maria and Emma for the genuine love they showed our mom.

I found myself saying aloud, "I am putting my mother there." It wasn't just a decision based on the facility's appearance; it was the sense of warmth and reassurance I felt about the people who would be taking care of her. The impression was reinforced by the overall atmosphere: a place that felt welcoming, with kind and friendly staff. That combination - compassion, competence, and a comforting sense of community - made EM stand out as a place I could trust with such a sensitive responsibility.

There was also another family's experience that resonated with mine. A father lived at Eastern Manor for two months before passing away from dementia, and the care he received left a lasting impression on his family. Maria, Emma, and additional team members - Junior, Christina, and Lisa - were cited for their steadfast dedication, treating him with respect and dignity even when he was difficult. The environment felt like a family, exactly what a person with dementia and their loved ones need in those final months. The staff went out of their way to accommodate not only him but the entire family, a level of consideration that the family said they would forever be grateful for.

Taken together, these experiences paint a picture of Eastern Manor as more than a place to live for someone facing advanced dementia. It is a community where care is personalized, where staff members invest in meaningful, respectful relationships with residents, and where families feel supported rather than overwhelmed. The kindness and professionalism demonstrated by Maria, Emma, and the rest of the team create a sense of trust that extends beyond the resident to the entire family.

In the end, the combination of a peaceful, clean environment and a staff that genuinely treats residents with dignity makes Eastern Manor stand out as a compassionate, reliable option for memory care. The stories shared by different families - even in the most trying times - highlight the same core truth: when caregivers approach the role with heart and respect, the residents' days are brighter, and families find the reassurance they desperately need. For the people I've spoken with and the mom I hoped to help, EM felt like the right choice, a place where kindness and professional care come together in a way that honors both residents and their loved ones.
