In the midst of that timeline uncertainty, what matters is the story of care and comfort that followed. I had spent years working in long-term care, so I approached the idea of placing my mom somewhere new with a healthy dose of nerves and hesitation. I thought I would never bring her to a facility, but then God answered my prayers in a way that proved me wrong. My mom was taken care of up until she passed by the best caregivers in the world.
In those final months, I saw a level of dedication that gave me real peace. She gained weight, which to me felt like a sign that she was being nourished properly and held with consistent, attentive care. The entire facility was kept clean, and there were no unpleasant smells to contend with - an important comfort for anyone who has spent time in a care setting. The environment reflected the care philosophy of the people who ran it and who worked there day in and day out.
A cornerstone of our appreciation was how they treated every patient. They made sure all of their patients were fed 3 home cooked meals, which spoke volumes about the attention to daily routine, nutrition, and dignity. Beyond the meals, they kept everyone clean and comfortable, attending to personal hygiene and well-being with patience and respect. It wasn't just about meeting basic needs; it was about ensuring a standard of living that felt like a family meal - warm, reliable, and nourishing in every sense.
Another aspect that stood out to me was access and openness. I could go see mom whenever I wanted, and they never turned us away. The doors were always welcoming, and the focus remained squarely on the care of our mother. That accessibility made a world of difference, turning what could have been a daunting experience into one where family could be present, involved, and reassured by the steady, compassionate staff.
We built a relationship that I could go on and on about, because the bond extended beyond routine care to genuine connection and trust.
