    Review

From the very start, this builder stood out in a way that felt reassuring and rare. After a bad storm, a portion of our screen door had come loose from the track, and we hadn't even reached out for help yet. Yet the very next morning, the builder was on a ladder fixing the issue. No call, no heads-up needed from us - just a proactive, friendly reminder that someone was looking out for our home. It was such a meaningful reminder of excellent customer service, and it made us feel truly cared for by Sequoia Homes.

As we continued through the process, we found ourselves halfway through the build and increasingly thrilled with our experience. The team at Sequoia Homes has consistently gone above and beyond. The journey began with meeting Maria, who greeted us with warmth and made us feel welcome from the first moment. The model home she guided us through was impressive, yet we weren't sure if building was the right choice for us. Maria's ongoing support - following up with meetings, emails, calls, and texts - helped us feel confident about the decision to move forward with a custom home.

Even when life threw a pause into the plan, COVID hit Michigan and shut down much of the activity around us. Sequoia stood out by proactively keeping us informed about what could proceed during the shutdown and what could impact our timeline. Their transparency during this uncertain period was comforting and demonstrated a genuine commitment to clear communication. That period also laid the groundwork for a strong collaboration with the design team once things began moving again.

When it came time to select tiles, flooring, cabinets, and other finishes, Julia emerged as a crucial partner in the journey. Her keen eye for detail, broad knowledge of available materials, and strong design sense stood out as something special. Throughout the process, there were a few ideas that were outside of typical construction features, and Matt and Julia did an excellent job of either making them happen or explaining why they might not work and offering better alternatives. Their philosophy of working WITH clients - cooperating rather than pressuring - made us feel respected and heard.

Our most recent walk-through left a deep impression. Matt, the builder/owner himself, took time out of his day to patiently address every question we had. It was evident that he takes immense pride in his work, and his personal involvement reassured us that we had the right team on our side. We left the visit more excited than ever about building our home, grateful that such a hands-on leader was involved in the process and genuinely invested in our satisfaction.

Matt and Julia are genuinely nice people to plan and build with. They share excitement for finalizing the home details and are always willing to explain the process and decisions. If any issues or "little mistakes" occur during construction, they are quick to correct them. In our subdivision, Sequoia Homes' standard features stood out as better than those offered by other builders, and the overall quality of construction has been excellent. After a year and a half, we have not encountered any warranty issues, which reinforces our confidence in the solid foundations of Sequoia Homes.

Overall, the experience has been overwhelmingly positive and reassuring. The team's combination of proactive service, clear communication, and collaborative design approach created not just a house in progress but a home we are excited to live in. The care shown by Maria, Julia, and Matt - from the initial meeting to the ongoing decisions and final touches - has made the build a joy to experience. We are grateful to be part of the Sequoia Homes family and cannot wait to see the finished product complete our dream home.
