Overall Review of Savannah Springs Apartments

    Pros

    • pro Savannah Springs is described as a welcoming, HOME-like independent senior living community.
    • pro It offers two levels with an elevator or wide stairs and secure entry doors with locked mailboxes.
    • pro Residents are able to decorate their area outside of their locked apartment, adding a personal touch.
    • pro Apartments are spacious, typically with two bedrooms and a master walk-in closet, plus windows in bedrooms and the living room.
    • pro Safety features include bathroom grab bars, smoke alarms, sprinklers, and a fire extinguisher.
    • pro Each unit comes with a full-size washer and dryer, built-in microwave, and provided stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator.
    • pro Inside, there are communal amenities such as two large flat-screen TVs, a foyer lounge, a theater room, exercise equipment, a computer room, a library, and a resident food bank.
    • pro Outside, there are sidewalks, a gazebo, a covered picnic area, a fenced dog area, and ample guest parking.
    • pro The community feels like family, with a large furnished lobby, coded security, and a generally quiet, attractive interior.

    Cons

    • pro The one significant drawback of this location is the sometimes noisy intersection of Trier Road and Goeglein Road, where too many fast cars and motorcycles "drag" off the intersection line, with inadequate mufflers, speed shifting and gears winding out.
    • pro Unit walls are not heavily soundproofed so residents near the corner on street-side require ability to tolerate sporadic noise.
    • pro Wish we had more things to do like playing cards and crafts.
    • pro There is no staff except part-time office manager and handyman.

    Review

After moving to Savannah Springs in December 2021, I realized I had finally found a place that felt like home after spending a long time searching. The community is designed for independent adults 55 and older, offering a welcoming atmosphere that gradually reveals itself as much more than a place to live. It's described as a true home by residents who value safety, comfort, and a sense of belonging, and that sentiment comes through in every corner of the property.

The living arrangements are thoughtfully planned for ease and accessibility. The building spans two levels, with options for an elevator or wide stairs featuring a flat landing in the middle. Security is clearly a priority, with locked entry doors and inside locked mailboxes that give residents peace of mind. Inside each apartment, the emphasis is on comfortable, practical living: most units have two bedrooms, with a few one-bedroom layouts available. A walk-in closet in the master bedroom adds a touch of luxury, and every unit includes windows in both the bedrooms and the living room to let in natural light. Bathrooms are equipped with safety bars, and practical conveniences abound, including a full-size washer and dryer, a built-in microwave, and the stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator that residents expect in a modern home. Safety features such as smoke alarms, sprinklers, and a fire extinguisher are standard.

Inside the building, the social and communal infrastructure is equally impressive. Two large flat-screen TVs anchor common spaces: one sits in the foyer on an inviting L-shaped couch, while another greets people in the theater room with its own L-shaped seating. A dedicated fitness area, a computer room, a library, and a resident food bank underline the community's commitment to convenience and mutual support. There's also a community room where residents can celebrate holidays and host gatherings, reinforcing the sense that Savannah Springs is not just a place to live but a community to belong to. The overall atmosphere inside is one of quiet, comfortable livability, designed to help independent seniors stay active and connected.

Outdoor spaces further enhance the appeal. There's a sidewalk that circles the building, which invites casual strolls and fresh air, and a small gazebo that provides a sheltered spot for conversations or a moment of rest. A covered picnic area makes outdoor meals easy, while a fenced-in dog area caters to residents who share their lives with canine companions. Ample parking, including a dedicated section for guests, ensures that visits from family and friends are easy and convenient. Taken together, the outdoor amenities reinforce the sense that Savannah Springs is a place designed for livability and community life.

The character of the community itself adds a distinct warmth to the experience. It's described as an independent senior living environment with limited staffing - primarily a part-time office manager and a handyman - yet the mood is consistently positive. The large furnished lobby, a secure coded entry door, and very spacious apartments with shiny hand holds and doors that accommodate wheelchairs all contribute to an environment that feels both welcoming and accessible. Those who live here often emphasize a family-like culture, especially among the residents who are mostly elderly women who support one another with a friendly, helpful attitude. Parking arrangements are organized and predictable, with a special area reserved for guests and a pavilion that serves as another social touchpoint.

People who call Savannah Springs home also highlight the interior's quietness and the overall attractiveness of the setting. The space is designed to be calm and comfortable, with apartment interiors that prioritize space and ease of navigation. It's easy to see why the place earns compliments for its atmosphere and the people who live there, all of whom are described as nice and welcoming. The combination of well-appointed living spaces, sturdy security, and a genuine sense of community creates a living environment that many residents feel is rare to find.

If there's a drawback, it centers on location-specific noise rather than the quality of the housing itself. The intersection of Trier Road and Goeglein Road can become quite noisy, with fast cars and motorcycles that tend to drag at the intersection. The sound can seep into the units because the walls aren't heavily soundproofed, so residents living closest to the street may need to tolerate sporadic noise. It's a factor that potential residents might weigh, especially if a quiet setting is a priority. In addition, some residents express a wish for more activities - things like card games and crafts - to supplement the already solid array of amenities.

Overall, Savannah Springs presents a compelling combination of practical, comfortable living and a warm, supportive community. For someone moving from a long-term residence and seeking a place that feels like home, the mix of generous apartments, robust safety and security features, abundant common spaces, and a true sense of neighborliness stands out. It's the kind of place where independence is respected, everyday life is made easier by thoughtful design, and the feeling of belonging is strong, even as the community continues to grow and evolve.
