    Review

In recent days, I've felt especially supported by Karen, my nurse, as part of the Palms program. Her steady presence and attentive care have been a steadying influence as I manage the challenges that come with healing after wrist surgery, living with a limited use of my left arm, and dealing with a stubborn back. The combination of daily care and guided therapies through Palms has given me concrete steps to stay engaged with my treatment rather than giving up. Karen's efficiency, compassion, and hands-on approach make a real difference in how I handle the process and stay motivated to keep moving forward.

A key part of my current plan has been addressing fall risk and balance. Karen connected me with physical therapist Eril, and together we assessed my balance and posture. My balance is off, and my spine is curved, with osteoporosis advancing, which raises concerns about falls. We discussed practical supports like a cane or walker, and I plan to pursue orthopedic approval before making any equipment changes. I will also bring this up with Dr Donnelly to ensure I have the right guidance and authorization before proceeding.

Both Eril and Karen stand out for their knowledge in their respective fields and for the way they communicate that knowledge. They are thorough in their assessments and explanations, and they bring a kind, reassuring demeanor to every session. Knowing that I can rely on their expertise helps me feel more confident about the care plan and about continuing with the therapies I need. Their combination of proficiency and empathy makes the experience feel less daunting and more manageable.

Karen has been a standout since my wrist surgery, and her impact extends beyond that single episode of care. In my 71 years, she stands out as one of the best nurses I've had - efficient, well trained, and highly knowledgeable. She's empathetic and has a clear sense of how to guide me in taking medications correctly, which is especially meaningful given that I didn't take meds consistently for much of my life. Her guidance in medication routines feels precise and practical, helping me settle into a healthier pattern and feel more in control of my treatment.

The Palms program itself feels well-coordinated, with Dr Donnelly's office and my PCP, Dr Jaeger-Keen, arranging the referral and ongoing support. The collaboration across offices and providers ensures I'm linked into a comprehensive care plan rather than navigating the process alone. Knowing that Palms has been assigned to me by trusted physicians gives me additional reassurance that I'm in capable hands and that the care I'm receiving is integrated with my broader medical care.

Overall, the experience with Karen, Eril, and the Palms team has left me feeling more hopeful and happy about my recovery. The care I receive not only supports my physical healing but also improves my mood and outlook, making it easier to stay engaged and motivated. I'm grateful for the knowledge, kindness, and consistent presence of these professionals, and I look forward to continuing with their guidance as I work toward a safer, more independent daily routine. Their support makes a meaningful difference in how I approach healing and daily life, and I'm thankful for that.
